The US Capitol hearings investigating the Jan 6 2021 insurrection are underway and just may have as much import as the Watergate hearings of the 1970’s.  Our guest, college prof Michael Sammet, strongly feels that way, and has been tracking the hearings, play by play, as if they were a cross between a hot Neflix series and an important sports match. Michael argues that our American democracy is at stake, that there is nothing more important than the peaceful transfer of power, and that hearings make it clear that Trump was doing everything to stay in power. A very lively show today, discussing the election with some astute callers, including our local politcal pundit Col. Terry.  Then, at about 45 minutes into the show, a mysterious boom hit our local bioregion, the Monterey Bay. For the rest of the show, no more politics as we fielded call after call about the strange sound and vibrations in our neighborhood.  What actually happened?  We explore the possibility of an earthquake, a sonic boom, a thunder storm, an industrial accident.. No one knows as of this writing..

When the incident occured, we were planning to talk about the whole ‘fake news’ controversy affecting social media.  And what the universe gave us was an opportunity to find out what actually happened by talking first hand to “ear-witnesses.”  A very intriquing show.  Enjoy!

It was the day after the first Trump Hillary debate and naturally the populace wanted to talk about it.  But first we simply had to cover the NASA press conference on the water plumes of Jupiter’s moon, Europa, and Elon Musk’s big plan for Martian colonization. And naturally, we had an interesting conspiracy call about the secret government space and time travel programs to consider in our understanding of what’s really going on.

On a more pragmatic note, Dave Spencer, founder of Practically Republican shares his analysis of the Trump/Hillary debate, giving the’ bout’ to Hillary.  Dave, a fifth generation Rockefeller, founded Practically Republican to create a forum where “level-headed GOP supporters could make their voices heard at a time when divisiveness, anger and rhetoric dominate the party platform.” He believes the best way to save the GOP at this point is for Hillary to win the election.

In the second hour a Swiss caller, Fabian, gave us a Eurocentric perspective of our U.S. elections, and some insight into the gun control issue. In Switzerland, all able-bodied men are trained in a national militia, where they are issued automatic weapons to every household, after proper training.    In the gun issue we also have the Texan perspective expressed by “Joachin,” who speaks of guns as tools around the house and the Texas “needed a killing” law.
