Wow, fusion power could be on the horizon!  After being only 30 years away for 8 decades or so, a new startup is trying a new approach, first discussed in the 1930’s, that might now be feasible, given today’s wonder materials. Hey, the ‘horizon’ could only be 5 years away for the next 10. (that’s a joke.)   And while we are waiting, we can have nanobots clean toxins from our blood and regenerate extra limbs, in case we lose one! Enjoy.

Boy, it sure looks like fun to live and travel in a tiny house, more spacious than most RV’s, and certainly more cool.  We visited a tiny house show in San Jose this last weekend and share a bit of our experiences.  This week is also when KSCO’s morning host, Rosemary Chalmers, visited CERN and we have an update on the CERN upgrades and a couple minutes of Rosie’s report from the high tech facility in Switzerland. We also explore a new way to create a breathable Martian atmosphere and ponder a huge mysterious gravity wave on Venus.

Also this week is our interview with John Draper, aka ‘Captain Crunch,’ grandfather of the hackers, who regales us with a few tales from his biography, “Beyond the Blue Box,” written with Craig Wilson. We touched on some especially interesting tales from the time when the iron curtain collapsed and John was on the front lines of the shift, visiting East Berlin when,for a period of several weeks, there was no government at all.. Lots going on this week, from the big Korean Summit to Martian dust storms!  Being media-oriented folks, we found the peace propaganda video created by the Trump administration to be of interest, as it portrayed the outcome Trump wanted from the summit in Singapore, but in a North Korean style format!  But hey, if it helps get us peace.. and then, while blissfully enjoying the night sky, we can marvel at how the ‘glow’ of the milky is created by the shimmering of untold numbers of nano diamonds..

Taylor Barcroft keeps us up-to-date with the latest and greatest Apple announcements, such as the updated iOS and Watch OS, and three upcoming new iPhones for the Fall.  If you are thinking of buying an Apple product soon, you’ll especially appreciate his report!

Its also the week that Alphabet’s Kittyhawk demos to the public their refined single rider drone “Flyer,” touting it as an easy-to-fly personal aircraft, a kind of “motorcycle of the sky.”  And the scifi idea of nanobot subs in the bloodstream finally becomes real, with the first ones killing a cancerous tumor in a mouse’s body. And did I mention the discovery of an octopus city? A big surprise to our scientists, who thought those cephalopods were loners! Enjoy..

Certainly for us the most exciting thing this week was attending the Augmented World Expo 2018 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, in the heart of Silicon Valley.  To help us cover this amazing conference, we have in the studio Greg Panos and Richard Cray, no strangers to the augmented and virtual worlds as you have heard from their previous reports. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the virtualization of Walt Disney’s personal office and the VR exhibit, “Where Thoughts Go.” Enjoy!
