Future Now Show - Artemis/Starship Updates, Guests Dr. Ralph Abraham & T. Mike Walker on Hip Santa Cruz 6 Event, Wagyu Cultured Beef and the Replicator,Taylor Barcroft on the Rokid Max VR Glasses, Master Now checks in!

It was our pleasure to interview T. Mike Walker and mathematician Dr. Ralph Abraham for this show, pioneers of the 1960’s counterculture, and editors of the new book, Hip Santa Cruz 6.  The latest in a series of magical tales from the early days of hip culture in Santa Cruz, this volume explores the start of Rock & Roll, the first organic gardens, Huey P. Newton’s USCS Dissertation, and ‘mind-blowing truths.’ For our show, Ralph relates a telepathic story of swimming with John Lilly’s dolphins, and what they had to say to him. And if you want to see the folks who wrote all these stories, be sure to check out live readings from the latest volume at the Santa Cruz Art League, 526 Broadway, Santa Cruz, CA Saturday afternoon, April 8, 2023, 3-5 p.m.
Lots to share this week, from Space News to AR glasses and bio-printed Wagyu beef, enjoy!

Future News - ISS Dodges Disaster, SLS Counts down to T-29 sec., Sonic Levitation Advance, Starship passes Environmental Hurdles, Homage to JJ Webb, Meta's latest VR headsets, Neighborhood Whirlpool Turbine Power

Another amazing friend has passed, a pioneer in tech and the arts, JJ Webb. We speak of him today and some of his accomplishments in space tech and online poetry.  In space news, the ISS dodged some space junk, NASA’s giant rocket, known as SLS (Space Launch System), had a mostly successful wet test with fuel on the launchpad, and Space X has to address more environmental concerns as it makes its way to its next launch. And closer to home, Zuck himself outlines the features of three new experimental VR headsets, and we look at a new small whirlpool hydro-power generator, small enough to work on neighborhood rivers and canals, powering up to 60 homes! And one of our phone calls this week asked Dr. Future what his vision was for Santa Cruz in 5-10 years.  Enjoy!

A full show today, with news, both local and global.  A big congrats to Space-X and their successful ferrying of humans to the ISS, just wow! Too bad about the Starship explosion, though it was half expected. Thanks to Monica McGuire for her report on our Santa Cruz City Council meeting, including plans for our slow re-opening of businesses locally.

And a special report from Greg Panos on Augmented World Expo 2020, covering such topics as new VR/AR hardware, social spaces like Alt Space, spatial io, and Alt Space. And good to hear from Shane, an Australian listener who loves our show and bringing our attention to Dr. Douglas Gentile, a renowned media psychologist at Iowa State University.

Dr. Dan Beilin checks in with an update on Covid, with some good conversations between him, us and Bobby Wilder, our science journalist co-host. We all got so engaged with our discussion about Dr. Zack’s work with the microbiome, we forgot it was the end of the show! Enjoy..
